2. The author leaves us in suspense at the end of Chapter 12. What is the "cliffhanger" at the end of the chapter?
3. Prediction: What do you think is in the packet that Peter Neilsen is trying to get to Uncle Henrick?

1) Well I think that the author is telling us she didn't loose her famly members and the Rosens when the Nazi's came. Also they had, warmth food from the farm and the dark path ahead for freedom.

2)Well the suspence is if mama was really dead or crying because she was sad that the Rosens left or she got hurt. Mama was ling at the end of the path and had a littles movement. So the cliffhanger is what is mama doing on the ground.

3) I think that the packet was food for the trip. Or matbe it was a map to the way to sweeden. Probably something to do with the trip.

I think the author is traying to say that that have not lost there hope. I think this because all they have do is to go to Sweeden and gain everything else they lost.

The cliff hanger was " annemarie saw a dark shadow outside, when it moved annemarie knew it was mama lying on the earth."

I think the in the packet there is a important letter that could be the key to surviving the war. For example money, maybe a key to a smll apartment.

1. I think the Author is trying to say that they might have left their beds, clothes, and exctera but they didn't leave their pride.
2. The cliffhanger is when just at the end Annemarrie's mom falls onto the ground.
3. I think the packet is how to help the jews escape and when they're going to meet the people in Sweeden that will take care of the jews.

1. I think that it means that even though they don't have anything to show their pride, they still have some left inside of them.
2. the cliffhanger is that she sees her mother lying on the road and we don't know what happened to her. it says that she moved though so she is not dead.
3. I think that in the package is a gun that Uncle Henrick may need in case the Nazis find out the he is hiding Jews in his boat.

1. The author is trying to say that even though they left everything behind in Copenhagen, clothes, pictures, prized possesions, etc., all the things that gave them pride, pride is still in them.

2. The cliffhanger in the end of chapter 12 is when Annemarie cannot find her mother, who was supposed to come back earlier. She looked out the window and saw her mother, lying on the ground outside. The chapter ends not telling if Mama is okay or not.

3. I think that the packet contains maybe some money to give out to the Jews for food and such.

2. The "cliffhanger" in this chapter is when Mama is lying on the ground. I think that Mama was either shot or she fainted from being so tired.

3. I think that the packet is a gift from one of the Jewish people. This would be saying thank you for his kindness for helping set this up.

1) The author is trying to say tthey didn't leave everything behind. They have each other, memories, and pride. Even though they don't have material things, they still didn't leave everything behind.
2) The cliffhanger is the fact that Mama is lying on the path in the middle of the night. You're wondering if she's OK and why she is still there.
3) Peter might be giving Uncle Henrik plans or lists of people he will help escape in the furture. It seems like Peter is in the Resistance and that Uncle Henrik's home is a place where Peter can bring Jews to escape, so Peter might giving Henrik plans.

1. I think that the author is trying to say that the Rosens still believe and hope that they can escape the Nazis. They also still have pride even though with whats going on. They still have the same talk, the same look and sit the same. It's still them and they still believe.

2. The cliffhanger is that Annemarie can't find her mom and sees her lying on the ground just outside the woods. Nobody knows what happened to her. She may be hurt or may just be lying there because she is tired.

3. I think the packet contains a gun. Snce we know that Peter had one maybe he's giving it to Uncle Henrick; so that if the Nazis come he has protection if they are going to take all the people away. Also, Peter doesn't tell Mr. Rosen whats in it so he won't be scared to deliever it.

1) What the author is trying to say is that when you leave your house forever you don't leave everything because you still have memories and also they stay in your heart.
2) The cliffhanger of chapter 12 is that when she sees Mamma lying on the earth. I think that Ann Marie thinks that she is dead, but I don't agree with her. I think that maybe she got really tired and needed to lie down because is was 4 in the morning.
3) I am not sure what is in the packet that Peter is trying to get to Uncle Henrick, but I will try. I think that it might be something that is a little frightening because Peter didn't say a word about it.
